2009 Audi A4
Make Room The 2009 Audi A4 is a making a bid for dominance in its class, not just in features but also in physical size. With a wheel base increased by a little shy of five inches and a width expanded by two inches, the A4 is now the biggest in its class, ahead of the new C-Class sedan and the 3 Series sedan. While some may see the increase in size as a down side, especially given the current market climate of "smaller=better & more effi-cient." Audi didn't increase the size of the A4 for merely aesthetic reasons, though. The increased width and wheel base makes for a sportier stance that hugs the road.
Sit Back The change in frame size isn't the only big improvement in the new A4. The interior has been completely redesigned. Audi has always been known for its elegant interior designs, and the new A4 more than live up to that reputation. Aside from the looks themselves, the cabin also benefits from the increased body size, with increased leg room, more comfortable seats, a larger trunk, and all around larger cabin.
A New Way to Ride Perhaps the most innovative system to be featured in the new A4 is the Audi drive se-lect (ADS). A simple push-button system allows the driver to select exactly what kind of ride he or she wants. Choose between three ride options, Comfort, Dynamic, or Auto, and the car will adjust itself to ride how you desire. While similar features can be found on other car models, Audi's is one of the only one that delivers a significant difference in ride quality. Pick one of the other car models that feature a rde-select function, and odds are you won't be able to determine much of a difference between the ride modes. Switching between modes in the A4, though, will deliver noticeable changes in the power steering, transmission shift points, and throttle control. While the ADS is only in its first generation, the system makes some incredible strides over competitor's systems.
The 2009 Audi A4 is evidence that Audi is really coming into its own in the smaller sedan class. When stacked against its two main competitors, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the BMW 3 Series, the A4 is definitely going to give them a run for their money. And the A4 is definitely worth a look for anybody who is considering those other two.
