In 2009 Cadillac is offering a new Escalade. The Escalade has been on the market for several seasons now, but in 2009 they are going to be offering much more. The 2009 Cadillac Escalade is going to be a hybrid. Not only do you get a great performing vehicle with luxury, but now you also get an increase in fuel efficiency. The new specs estimate about 20 miles per gallon in the city with 21mpg on the highway.
The Escalade is still an SUV. This means it is heavy and that does cut down on the fuel efficiency you would get from a smaller vehicle. Under the hood of the Escalade you get a 2 way hybrid engine. This means you can transfer from electric to combustion without noticing a change. It also means that you get more speed and power based on the engine type.
The Escalade also has changes to the braking system. They have decided to improve on technology by offering a regenerative design. Instead of losing brake pads to wear and tear you have non mechanical energy that helps you break. With the engine electricity powering the brakes they are gentler on the pads, according to Cadillac. You also can store power for the brakes.
Now that we have examined the engine and the fuel efficiency of the Hybrid we can take a look at the performance and interior. Despite the hybrid engine you still have a V8 with 332 horsepower. This is where performance comes in. The Escalade also provides 367 pounds per feet of torque for 4,100 rpms. Just because it has a hybrid engine doesn’t mean it won’t have power. You can even get the four wheel drive edition to pull 5,600 pounds. Power is definitely not lacking in this vehicle.
If the engine design is not enough think about the inside. Being Cadillac you know the Escalade comes with power seats, windows, mirrors, heated seats, and the best leather money can buy in a vehicle. What makes the interior better for the 2009 is the up to date navigation. You have navigation software integrated with the radio. You get to see all the engine information, as well as move through the city streets without issue. Besides navigation you have a DVD system, rear view camera, 5.1 surround sound, three zone climate control, Bluetooth integration, and remote start.
Safety is also a top priority with Cadillac. They have a five star rating with all the airbags needed to assure all passengers will be safe. Each seat will have its own safety belt tested to make sure there are no issues. Overall the 2009 hybrid Escalade is a car to have if you have the budget.
