What is New in the 2009 Hummer?
Posted by admin on 06 Mar 2009
Hummers have been extremely popular in the past. The original Hummer was the best with a metal body. It still retained the military look. The newer Hummers have changed their body style as well as what’s under the hood. These can be considered improvements, certainly in the price. You pay less for the fiberglass body. The H3T is the newest model out by Hummer. It is a Hummer truck, which means it has a bed on the back rather than a hatchback.
To begin the 2009 SUT or SUV and Truck mix has some upgrades. They are not very noticeable, but worth mentioning. The Hummer 2 and H2 SUT will come with a 6.2 liter engine, which is a V8. The engine also has the FlexFuel option in case you want to make improvements for fuel economy. The seats inside the vehicle have been updated to offer heated seats in the back seats. They are also adjustable. The steering wheel will adjust to tilt with ease, so you can sit better. There will be a new adaptation for the On Star software. It will be able to download better directions as well as use Bluetooth for satellite radio. In fact you can obtain up to date traffic information. The vehicle will also have black chrome rather than the regular chrome look. This model is available in two colors: the Sedona and the Silver Ice Metallic.
The H3T as mentioned above also has some changes. You will find a new 5′ bed. Since it is like a truck, but still a Hummer you have the square edges, four doors, and plenty of room. The H3T has a different wheel base at 22.3 inches, which is longer than the H3. The truck is meant to have a better ride than other models because of the longer wheel base. The H3T only has a 3.7 liter engine, with 5 cylinders. It is also a straight 5 instead or a V 5. You can get a 5- speed manual or 4- speed automatic. Also new for this year is the H3T Alpha with a 5.3 liter V8 engine. It has a 4- speed automatic transmission. It is rated to tow at 5,900 pounds.
While the changes are small they are effective. If you are a Hummer fan the new models will be comfortable and fun to drive. They will still have a wide turning radius though, which means they are difficult to park.
