2010 Audi A7: New Sleek Look
Posted on August 15, 2008
Audi is pulling out all of the stops with the redesign of their A6 into the classy 'rocket ship' style A7, set to release for the 2010 car season. This 4 door coupe is the basic A6 with a modified hood that slopes more than the original version, a lower profile to the road for better handling, and a rear that looks more like the new A4 and 2008 A5 models. Overall the new Audi A7 is impressing consumers just with the concept.
This particular car is going to have some serious competition in its market niche with the upcoming Volkswagen Passat coupe, Aston Martin Rapide, and Porsche Panamera. And that's not including the offerings upcoming from BMW and Mercedes. But that is not stopping Audi from bringing the A7 to life.
This luxury car will have front end styling that is similar to both the A5 and A6 with the R8 inspired headlights, yet the taillights and other rear-end details will more than likely stay the same. Since the frame will be that of a modified Audi A6, it will be a wider model than the popular A5 by 6.2", offering consumers more room. The A7 is supposed to also encompass more widely stretched quarter panels, and the slope of the roof is going to be changed to that occupants actually have some headroom.
The A7 will be available in a two and four door coupe and it will include the steering rack, multilink suspension and a slightly reconfigured Quattro all-wheel-drive that will send a bit more power to the rear wheels. It will be based overall on the Volkswagen C6 platform according to preliminary reports, and the power train will be similar to the A6 with a 255 horsepower, 3.2 liter V6 and a 350 horsepower 4.2 liter V8. Audi has also commented that they may produce a version of the A7 with the 435 horsepower V10 engine, an S7 variant of the A7 with a Lamborghini motor.
Right now there is no speculation of how much Audi is planning on charging for the new 2010 A7. There is a 2011 version of the A7 also planned that will have additional features to the 2010 version but also new ones that are still in the work. The 2011 Audi A7 is looking at being priced around $70,000 to $100,000 depending on options chosen. More than likely the 2010 will run somewhere within the lower end of that particular price range.
